New Plan

2004 was the 1st time I ever thought about Bariatric Surgery. I was almost through the 6 month medically supervised diet when my PCP would not support me, after fighting with him and insurance I gave up. Over the years, I lost some weight, gained some weight, and gain more weight after getting married and having 2 children. About 14 months ago a co-worker told me she had lap-band and my fire was BACK! In March of 2014 I started the process again with Dr. Terry Simpson between April-October I did the work: dieting, psych-eval, and recommendation letter all set and ready to go. One problem my insurance type changed in July and no one check to see if Dr. Simpson was a covered doctor. Guess what... he wasn't!!!!! Now that my BMI is lower that what UHC required for surgery I freaked that I wouldn't get approved, but I kept trying. I sought a new (APPROVED doctor) Dr. Swain and he recommend Sleeve, not band. November-February was more forms, more appointments, and more letters. The good news is UHC let me keep my original diet plan for Dr, Simpson and was not required to "start over". FINALLY March 4th 2015 I got my approval letter and surgery is set for April 23rd.
Start BMI 40.3
Current BMI 39.2
Goal BMI 25.8

29 days...My life is about to change and for the better!
